Menands Police Officer Recognized at Annual Law and Order Breakfast Ceremony

On Sunday February 26, 2012 Officer Andy Cohen was presented with an award at the Colonie Elks Lodge 2192 by Chief Michael O'Brien at the annual Law and Order Breakfast Ceremony.  

Important Message from Chief O'Brien

Chief O'Brien reminds residents to lock their unattended vehicles and to not leave any valuable items in plain sight.  There have been a few cars broken into this past week.

Bicycle Safety

Once again the nice weather is approaching and we will be riding our bikes.  All bicyclists must follow the rules of the road.  We must stop at stop signs, signal when making turns or stopping, using hand signals.  We must ride on right side of the road with traffic.  All bikes must have horn or bell, reflectors or a light if they are being rode after dark (Front and Back).  The bicyclist must be seen as well.  We can wear reflective clothing or reflective helmets.  Every one who rides

neighborhood watchChief O'Brien, wants to remind residents who will be away from home for vacation to make use of the Police Department House Check Program.  Simply contact the Police Dispatcher to relay relevant information and your house will be checked three shifts daily by Officers during your absence.  At the very least please cancel your mail and newspaper deliveries.  Piled up mail and newspapers are an invitation to thieves to take advantage of the circ
