Regular Village Board Meeting

 

The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Menands was held on Monday, August 16th, 2010 and called to order by Mayor Thomas G. Coates at 7:00 P.M.

 

PRESENT:

Megan Grenier, Trustee

Timothy A. Lane, Trustee

Ronald Miller, Trustee

William T. Smith, Jr., Clerk – Treasurer

Stephen Rehfuss, Village Attorney

Paul Reuss, Exec Asst to Mayor

 

ABSENT: 

 

Mark Lansing, Trustee

 

Also attending: Paul Cooney

 

The Mayor led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

A motion was made by Trustee Lane seconded by Trustee Grenier to accept the minutes of the August 2nd, 2010 meeting.

A motion was made by Trustee Lane seconded by Trustee Grenier to approve payment for the following:

 

WARRANT # 6:

SEWER                       totaling                 6,102.50

                                    TOTAL                        $68,814.72

Trustee Lane offered the following Resolution which was seconded by Trustee Miller – a resolution appointing DPW Foreman Boyd as the alternate member for the Village of Menands to the Albany County MS-4 Coalition.

The Clerk led a discussion concerning the Fire Departments request to purchase 15 new helmets to replace out dated ones.  The following quotations for 15 helmets were received:

 

                        Garrison Fire & Rescue                        $2,835.00

                        MES – New York                                $2,940.00

                        Jerome Fire Equipment Co.                  $3,095.00

 

After a discussion Trustee Lane moved seconded by Trustee Grenier a motion authorizing the Fire Department to purchase 15 helmets from Garrison Fire & Rescue for $2,835.00.

The Clerk led a discussion concerning a letter of Support requested by Albany County Executive Michael Breslin in connection with the county’s application for a grant for the Tech Valley Trail Project after which Trustee Miller moved seconded by Trustee Lane a resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign a letter of support for the County.

Trustee Miller discussed this weekends Civil War Days at Schuyler Flats – August 21st.  Trustee Miller also discussed the planning for the Broadway Corridor.  A Planning Workshop for Board Members was scheduled for 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday September 1st, 2010 at Village Hall

 

Trustee Lane discussed the proposal from Mrs. Kathy Lanni, he thinks it’s a good idea.  After the discussion it was agreed to put together a committee with Trustee Lane and the Police Chief or his designee and the Fire Chief or his designee and the DPW Foreman.  The Clerk will notify the prospective departments.

 

The Clerk reminded the Board of the NYCOM Fall Training School to be held September 20th – 23rd in Lake Placid let him know if you want to attend.

 

 The Clerk reminded the Board that the next Village Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 7th due to the Monday Labor Day Holiday.

 

A motion was made by Trustee Lane seconded by Trustee Grenier to adjourn.
