MENANDS SENIORS – THANK-YOU
On behalf of the Captain and sailors aboard the USS San Juan, thank you. At the April monthly meeting of the Menands Senior Citizens a request was made for small items and notes of appreciation for the “half way” boxes for two sailors on board who don’t have families to provide them moral support during their deployment. The shoe size boxes are opened at the “Half Way Party” held on board. The response was incredible. We received several cards and notes of encouragement, enough candy, gum, snack bars, playing cards, dice, games, toiletries and cash donations for magazines to fill SEVEN boxes and had still more goodies left over for the Captain to pass out at his discretion. Your generosity was overwhelming! You truly are “The Greatest Generation.”
