VILLAGE BOARD MEETING
The Annual Meeting of the Village Board will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2009. All meetings are open to the public and are handicap accessible.
DUMPSTER RESERVATIONS BEGIN MARCH 30
The Village DPW will loan a dumpster to Village Residents Only for their personal use beginning April 1, 2009. No contractor’s debris will be accepted. The dumpster is available thru October by reservation only. Stop in or call the Village Office @ 434-2922 to schedule the dumpster.
ICE STORM CLEAN-UP
The DPW will be picking up brush from the December ice storm. Residents are asked to place brush in 4-5 ft. lengths neatly at the curb or side of the road. Leaves and grass clippings need to be bagged or placed directly in a barrel (not to exceed 40 lbs.). The Village Crew will try to pick up once a week, there is no set schedule for this pick up.
DOG COMPLAINTS
The Village Office is once again receiving complaints concerning dogs running loose and leaving “deposits” on resident’s lawns. There is a leash law as well as a “pooper scooper” law in the Village of Menands. Tickets will be issued and fines will be assessed to violators.
TOWN OF COLONIE LANDFILL
Town of Colonie 2009 household hazardous drop-off waste dates are April 15 and May 20. Information and flyers are available at the Village Hall or call 783-2827.
YOUTH EASTER PARTY
Come and see! Oh, hurry, hurry on April 4th from 10:00-12:00 a.m.! For the rabbit, kind and furry, has been here again at the park and laid eggs in every nest we made! The Easter egg hunt will begin PROMPTLY AT 11:00 A.M. There will be a variety of activities including scrumptious bagels, donuts and refreshments. Please remember to bring an Easter Basket or bag to collect your Easter Eggs. If there are any questions, please call Brianna DeBiase at 469-7726. Hope to see you there!
MENANDS FIRE COMPANY #1
The monthly meeting for the Menands Fire Company will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. Elections for Line and Civil Officers will take place at this meeting. All Fire Company members are urged to attend.
The Menands Fire Co. is always looking for volunteers to join the Fire Company. For an application, stop by the Menands Police/Fire Dispatcher.

MENANDS FIRE CO. AND LADIES AUX. DINNER
The Annual Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary Installation Dinner will be held on Friday evening, April 17, 2009, at the Franklin Plaza, corner of 4th and Grand Street in Troy, NY. All members are invited along with one guest per member at no charge. I would like to see many members who we have not seen in a while come to the dinner and enjoy themselves. Please sign up in the Lounge of the Firehouse by April 6th. Menu choices are on the sign-up list. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy an elegant evening out and show your support for the Fire Company.

LENTEN SOUP SALE
Bethany Presbyterian Church will be offering the final soup, Turkey Vegetable, April 3rd. One Quart of soup costs $4.00. Homemade bread will also be available at $3.00 per loaf. To reserve a quantity of soup and/or bread, you may call Judy Blair at 465-3295, or fill out a coupon available at the church, or drop in on April 3rd. Soup will be available for pick up between 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

3RD ANNUAL MENANDS SCHOOL BASKET BONANZA – APRIL 3RD

MENANDS SCHOOL (70’s) CLASS REUNION
A reunion is being planned for all graduates from the 70’s. We are in the planning stages and are looking for graduates interested in being part of this reunion. MENANDS SCHOOL KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
If you are a resident of the Menands Union Free School District and have a child who will be 5 years old on or before December 1, 2009, please call the Menands School at 465-4561 to register for the upcoming school year. There will be a Kindergarten Registration Night held at Menands School on Tuesday, March 31, at 6:00 p.m. If you know of a neighbor who has an age-eligible Kindergarten student, please pass the word!
REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROJECT
St. Joan of Arc Church is resettling an Iraqi Christian family of a grandmother, mother and three children, ages 20, 16, and 10. If you would like to help, they could use household goods, tutoring, rides to appointments, employment searches, furniture moving and funds for family needs.
