New residents must submit a written request immediately after establishing residence in the district. Application forms are available at the Menands School. All requests must be completed on an annual basis. (Children attending Menands School K-8 need not fill out a request.)

BOARD OF EDUCATION-MENANDS UFSD
The regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting will be held on Monday, March 8, 2010 immediately following the informational meeting on the building renovations project.
RENOVATIONS OF MENANDS SCHOOL
The Board of Education of the Menands UFSD has approved a proposal for a small building renovation project to ensure the safety and future integrity of the school building. As required by the State Education Department, the district recently contracted with an architectural firm to conduct a maintenance survey of the structural aspects of the Menands School building. From this survey and from our knowledge of the building, the Board of Education is seeking voter approval so that we can repair two areas of the building that need immediate attention.
If approved by the district taxpayers, this project will allow the district to rebuild the east and north walls of the middle school wing that have endured many years of serious water damage. If approved by the taxpayers, this project will also allow the district to fill in the “reading pit” in the library, which presents a safety hazard of tripping and falling.
To finance this project, the district will be using several forms of State Aid and money from capital reserves and fund balance. As such, the district will not need to borrow money or increase taxes to finance the project.
Please join us on Monday, March 8, at 6:30 p.m. for the public Board of Education meeting in the school library for a complete explanation of the proposed renovations. For school district residents who are not already registered to vote, voter registration will take place on Tuesday, March 16 from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the school. Your vote will be very important, so please save these important dates.
