VILLAGE BOARD MEETING

The next Village Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2010.  All meetings are open to the public and are handicap accessible.

 

BIODEGRADABLE

Mulched leaves and grass should be bagged.  Branches, limbs, etc. should be cut in 3 ft. lengths.  We do NOT accept any dirt in the biodegradable bags.  Remember that it takes DPW approximately 10 days to go thru the Village.

 

BUILDING PERMITS

Please call the Village Building Department at 434-2922 if you are planning any construction pool, roof or shed installation, etc.  Be advised it takes approximately one week from receiving an application to the issuance of a building permit.

 

FUND RAISER FOR MENANDS FIREFIGHTER

Fund Raiser Picnic for Menands Fire Fighter Lieutenant Chad Bush (recovering from a stroke at age 35) on Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ganser Smith Memorial Park in Menands featuring live music by Blue House Rockers.  Food and beverages for purchase.  50/50 Raffle.  Any questions, contact Diane Brunelle at 463-6312.

MENANDS SENIOR CITIZENS

August 7th -  Dinner at the Riverfront Bar & Grill (The Barge) which you will be responsible for and then to the Park Playhouse to see “Annie Get Your Gun” Cost $9.

August 14th – Buffet Luncheon at Jackson’s Old Chatham House and the Musical Production “Mame” at the Mac-Haydn Theatre. Cost of $41 includes the buffet and show.

September 23 – We are gong to THE LAKE GEORGE DINNER THEATRE, Lake George, NY for a luncheon.

Menu choices are: pork tenderloin, medallions of beef, broiled salmon or vegetarian pasta.  Each choice includes salad, rolls, vegetables and dessert.  After our meal, we will see the play “OUR SON’S WEDDING.”  Sparks fly as an Italian-American plumber and his strong-willed wife check into a Boston Hotel on the occasion of their son’s wedding to another man.  Following the play we will travel to Oscar’s Smokehouse in Warrensburg, NY.  Cost of entire trip is $45.

Reminder: Come in person to prepay and sign up at Bethany Church Hall for any of the trips on Thursdays from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m.

 

MENANDS PUBLIC LIBRARY

Preschoolers and their caregivers can drop in Wednesday mornings at 9:30 a.m. from July 15 through August 11 for storytimes for the younger set. 

Come to Ganser-Smith Park at 9:30 a.m. for the following programs sponsored by the library:

July 13 for River Regatta – bring a shirt, we’ll be making AWESOME fish prints! 

On July 20 – We will have a special guest – MAGIC MAN!

Kids from preschool to grade five can sign up for the ‘Make a Splash Read’ programs and teens & tweens can signup for the ‘Make Waves @ your Library’ programs.  We’ll have lots of great programs, fun prizes and a few special guests, so stop in and pick up a calendar or for more details visit

3rd  ANNUAL PHOTO CONTEST

Announcing the Third Annual St. Agnes Cemetery Photo Contest 2010. The deadline is August 15th.  Cash prizes will be awarded at a reception to be held at the Colonie Memorial Town Hall on September 22nd.  Amateur and professional photographers are invited to take photos of sculpture, artwork, nature and views with Historic St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.  For details and a registration form, please contact KellyAnn.Grimaldi@rcda.org or call 463-0134.

 

A TOWN RUMBLE

Please join us for the inaugural A Town Rumble, a Moped and Scooter Rally to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  Classic Mopeds & Scooters will be on display at The Capital District Farmers Market on Saturday, July 10th from 9-11 A.M.  Next, we’re off to swarm the State Capital and other points of interest.  Remember to mark your calendar and come ride with us or just look over the cool bikes.  With the registration Fee of $20 you receive a Rally tee-shirt, coffee, juice & donuts, a guided tour through the Capital District and free moped/scooter pickup in the event of mechanical failure.  Don’t want to ride, but want to make a donation?  No problem.  A collection jar will be on display at the command center.  100% of the registration fee & donations go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  All riders should register online at www.atownrumble.com   Please contact Chuck Price at 248-636-2637 if you have any questions.
