FIRST 2009 SENIOR CITIZEN TRIP

The Menands Senior Citizen Club will be going February 8, 2009 to the Curtain Call Theatre in Latham for the show “The Dining Room”.  Remember the room that was sandwiched between the kitchen and what used to be called the “living” room?  Homework, those familiar Holiday get-togethers and the daily rituals of Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are all served up with laughter and nostalgia as we pay a visit to the heart of the American Home “The Dining Room”.  The bus will leave at 1 p.m. SHARP from Bethany.  After the show you will be going to the Wolf Road Diner for dinner.  Choice of the meal is Scrod, Roast Beef or Roast Breast of Chicken.  Cost of the trip will be $37.  Deadline for reservations January 22, 2009.  Call Susan at 472-9022 or Gert at 462-1860.

BELL RINGING

Given the recent news coverage of the difficulty to get volunteers to man the Salvation Army Kettles during the Christmas Campaign it is with pride that the Menands community stepped up to the plate.  The Menands Rotary leads getting volunteers to ring the bell and this year is no exception.  The Save More liquor store has been the site for the past dozen years.  Rotary has been ringing since at least 1985.  While the weather was extraordinarily severe and we had fewer volunteer bellringers, we were pleasantly surprised at the level of contributions.  Rotary thanks all who helped this year.

THANK-YOU

Thanks for the Christmas gifts from the neighbors, friends and members of St. Joan of Arc and Bethany Presbyterian Churches.

                                                Thanks again,

                                                John Schleich
