VILLAGE BOARD MEETING
The next Village Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2010. All meetings are open to the public and are handicap accessible.
ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
A public hearing will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Village Municipal Building for the purpose of considering the following application for a variance:
John Valccaro, 8 Momrow Terrace, is requesting a variance to put a shed less than 10 feet from the property line.
Such public hearings are open to the public and are accessible to the handicapped. All are encouraged to attend or to present comments in writing.

BIODEGRADABLE
Mulched leaves and grass should be bagged. Branches, limbs, etc. should be cut in 3 ft. lengths. We do NOT accept any dirt in the biodegradable bags. Remember that it takes DPW approximately 10 days to go thru the Village.
ANNUAL MENANDS VILLAGE PICNIC
The annual Village Picnic will be held on Wednesday, August 18th @ 5 p.m., at Ganser-Smith Memorial Park. All residents and their friends are welcome to attend. There will be food and beverages and games for the kids. Entertainment will be provided by the Bluz House Rockers. Bring your favorite lawn chair and come and enjoy the festivities. In the event of inclement weather, the rain date will be Thursday, August 19th.

MENANDS SENIOR CITIZENS
September 16 – (Note date change) We are going to THE LAKE GEORGE DINNER THEATRE, Lake George, NY for a luncheon.
Menu choices are: pork tenderloin, medallions of beef, broiled salmon or vegetarian pasta. Each choice includes salad, rolls, vegetables and dessert. After our meal, we will see the play “OUR SON’S WEDDING.” Sparks fly as an Italian-American plumber and his strong-willed wife check into a Boston Hotel on the occasion of their son’s wedding to another man. Following the play we will travel to Oscar’s Smokehouse in Warrensburg, NY. Cost of entire trip is $45. MENANDS PUBLIC LIBRARY
Preschoolers and their caregivers can drop in Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. on August 11 for storytimes.

August 10 - BACK TO THE BEACH - Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon are now a married couple. They head back to the beach to save their daughter from a horrible fate.
ATTENTION: The late fine for an over due book is now $.10 per day. The fines on other borrowed items will remain the same.
MENANDS SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION
The Menands School Board of Education will meet on August 9th at 6:30 p.m. in the library of the school.
3rd ANNUAL PHOTO CONTEST
The Third Annual St. Agnes Cemetery Photo Contest 2010 deadline is August 15th. Cash prizes will be awarded at a reception to be held at the Colonie Memorial Town Hall on September 22nd. Amateur and professional photographers are invited to take photos of sculpture, artwork, nature and views with Historic St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. WATERVLIET YOUTH SOCCER:
Watervliet Youth Soccer is adding a 4 yr old clinic to the program. This program is 6 weeks during the regular Watervliet soccer season, on Saturday mornings time TBD. The player MUST be 4 yrs old as of September 1, 2010, copies of birth certificates are required. The cost is $35.00 per child – this includes a t-shirt. BASKETBALL CAMP
Ed Malone, along with other area coaches, are running a Basketball ‘Basic Training’ Camp for boys & girls 11 – 15 years old. The Camp is August 9th – 12th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s School in Albany (2 minutes from Colonie Center). Menands residents will receive a 25% discount.
