VILLAGE BOARD MEETING
The next Village Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 due to the Labor Day Holiday. All meetings are open to the public and are handicap accessible.
ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
A public hearing will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. in the Village Municipal Building for the purpose of considering the following application for a variance.
Richard Rendert, 10 Pawling Street, Menands, N.Y. 12204, is requesting a variance to construct a garage on the property at 15 Pawling Street.
Such public hearings are open to the public and are accessible to the handicapped. All are encouraged to attend or to present comments in writing.

VILLAGE OFFICE
The Village Office and Court will be closed on Monday, September 7th due to the Labor Day Holiday.
TRASH SCHEDULE
There will be no trash pick up on Monday, September 7th. Monday’s pickup will be on Tuesday, September 8th. THERE WILL BE NO SPECIAL PICK UP ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH.
BIODEGRADABLE BAGS
The Village Office does not sell biodegradable bags anymore. You can purchase biodegradable bags in the stores.
BUILDING PERMITS
Please call the Village Building Department at 434-2922 if you are planning any construction, pool, roof or shed installation, etc. Be advised it takes approximately one week from receiving an application to the issuance of a building permit.
TOWN OF COLONIE LANDFILL
The next Town of Colonie 2009 household hazardous drop-off waste date is September 16th - 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

MENANDS FIRE COMPANY #1
The September meeting of the Menands Fire Company will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at the Fire House. All Fire Company members are urged to attend.
The Menands Fire Co. is always looking for volunteers to join the Fire Company. For an application, stop by the Menands Police/Fire Dispatcher.
MENANDS FIRE COMPANY AUXILIARY
The quarterly meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary will be September 8th at 7:00 p.m. in the Firehouse. Each member is asked to bring a one pound item (wrapped) for a pound party following the meeting.
MENANDS FARMERS MARKET
The Farmers Market in Menands, is located on Broadway just south of Route 378. The Retail Market is open Saturdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sundays Noon to 4 p.m. The Harvest Festival is on September 12th and Healthy Eating Day is on September 26th. MENANDS SENIOR CITIZEN NEWS
The Menands Senior Citizen Club will be going to the Delaney House in Holyoke, Massachusetts on Thursday, Sept 10th, to see the Westernaires. The menu will be Stuffed Boneless Breast of Chicken with potatoes, vegetable and dessert. Soup will also be included. When we arrive, we will receive a Welcome Tray. Cost of trip is $45. Please be up at Bethany at 9:00 a.m. Bus will leave at 9:15 a.m. SHARP. Closing and payment due date is August 27t.h. Call Susan at 472-9022 or Gert at 462-1860
MENANDS PUBLIC LIBRARY FALL FILM SERIES
Every Tuesday starting on September 15, 2009 at 1 p.m., the Menands Public Library will be showing a film staring either Marilyn Monroe or Jack Lemmon.

MENANDS SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION
The Board of Education will meet on September 21st at 6:30 p.m. in the library of the school.
PARKSIDE PRESCHOOL
Parkside Preschool is currently accepting registrations for the fall of 2009. Parkside is a licensed daycare center and prekindergarten program accepting both full and part time enrollment of children ages 2 years 9 months through 5 years. Parkside is open year round from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The Lyon Cub program is a part time toddler class, which runs weekdays, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This class offers an introduction to learning and socialization in a comfortable environment.
Both programs are sponsored by The Bethany Presbyterian Church at 21 North Lyon Avenue adjacent to the Village Park.
