LECTURE SERIES PRESENTS:
The strange adventures of Mme de La Tour du Pin (Lucy)
The story of how the daughter of an aristocratic family raised in the “glittering, brilliant world of Ancien Regime France” became a farmer’s wife is full of adventure and offers a glimpse into history during the Age of “Democratic Revolution 1775 – 1825. Lucy’s transformation from an elegantly garbed and bejeweled lady of leisure to a hard working country woman who made apple cider, tended crops and ran her own household on a Latham farm is poignant. When she was able to return home to France she was a “profoundly different person”. Come and hear Dr. Warren Roberts, author and distinguished professor of history, bring Lucy to life. She is a joy to know!
