Ø When do I need a building permit?
Most construction projects need a building permit, including, but not limited to, new buildings, additions, alterations, roofing, structural changes, garages, sheds, pools, decks, gazebos, and commercial signs. Please call the building department before you start any project.
Ø How do I get a building permit?
You may download a copy of the building permit application form our website or pick up an application at the Village Office from 8am – 4pm, Monday thru Friday.
Ø What is the cost of a building permit?
The cost of the permit is based on the cost of the project. Please call the Office to get a schedule.
Ø When do I need architectural plans?
Stamped plans are required for moderate to large scale projects such as, but not limited to, new buildings, additions, alterations, renovations and large site work. Please check with the building department before starting any project.
Ø What type of projects does not require a building permit?
Projects such as fencing, paving, gardening, minor alterations of building that do not involve structural changes, painting, minor plumbing or electrical work do not require a building. Fences cannot be more than 6 feet high. Please check with the building department to see if you project needs a permit.
