31904_152053_0.pngThe Village of Menands was incorporated in 1924 and is located wholly within the limits of the Town of Colonie.  Operation of the municipality is overseen by the Mayor and four members of the Board of Trustees.  Day to day operations are administered by the Village Clerk-Treasurer and a three person staff.

The Village of Menands provides its residents with a full range of emergency services including a 12-member police force, and the Menands Volunteer Fire Co. #1.  The residents are also served by a fully staffed Department of Public Works.  Water is provided by agreement with the City of Troy from the pristine Tomhannock Reservoir.

The Village is part of the Albany County Sewer District whose treatment facilities are located within the Village between Broadway (Rt. 32) and I-787 on Canal Road South.
