VILLAGE BOARD MEETING
The Village Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2008. All meetings are open to the public and are handicap accessible.
ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
A public hearing will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2008, at 7:00 P.M. in the Village Municipal Building for the purpose of considering the following application for a variance:
Susan Kessler-Schwartz and Joseph Swartz, 5 Dennin Drive, are requesting a variance to wave a 10 foot setback on an existing accessory structure.
Such public hearings are open to the public and are accessible to the handicapped. All are encouraged to attend or to present comments in writing.

RECYCLING REMINDER
Newspapers should be separated from the other items by either their own bin or in a PAPER BAG.
PAVILION RESERVATIONS WILL BEGIN 3-3-08
All Village residents, tax paying businesses, and organizations that are based within the village, will be able to reserve the pavilion at Ganser-Smith Park by stopping in the Village Office beginning Monday, March 3, 2008 at 8 a.m. A $100. refundable deposit will be required at the time of your reservation. Reservations for use by non-village parties sponsored by a village resident will be accepted April 1, 2008. There will be an additional usage fee of $150. In the event that a non-village party uses the pavilion and park without being identified for the actual purpose by the sponsoring resident, there will be a loss of the $100. refundable deposit plus a $300 fee will be assessed to the sponsoring resident.
MENANDS FIRE CO. #1, INC. NEWS
The next monthly meeting of the Menands Fire Company #1, will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 8:00 p.m.
2008 dues for all Menands Fire Company members are due by March 4, 2008. Drop your payment in the Fire Company mailbox in the Village Hall or come to the meeting and pay in person.
MENANDS FIRE CO. #1, INC. AUXILIARY NEWS
The quarterly meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Menands Fire Company #1 will be held on March 12 at 7 p.m. at the firehouse. Nominations for officers for 2008 will take place at this time. The Wine and Cheese party will follow the meeting. The Telephone Committee will be contacting the members. Also a REMINDER. Dues are due.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Molly Harbour who was selected Miss Colleen. Molly is the daughter of Past Marshals Paul and Beth Harbour. She is also the niece of this years marshal Tom Nugent. Molly is a Junior at Shaker High School.
MENANDS ST. PATRICK’S CLUB NEWS
The Menands St. Patrick’s Club would like to thank everyone who came and supported our “Sweetheart Breakfast”. Many thanks to all the merchants who donated items and to all our club members who worked so hard to make this endeavor a success.
The next 3 meetings of the club will be on Sunday, February 24th , March 2nd and March 9th at 12 noon. New members are always welcome. If anyone wants to march in the parade on March 15th, be at the firehouse at 12:30 p.m.

MENANDS SENIOR CITIZENS
Dues are now due - $5.00. Remember you have to pay the dues before you can sign up for any of our trips.
REMINDER – if Menands School is closed because of inclement weather, the senior meeting will be cancelled.
Once again, Josephine, has started up the exercise program. It is every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. except the third Thursday of the month and this is when bingo is held.
On March 18th we will be going to the Turning Stone Casino. The bus will leave the Ganser-Smith Park at 8:00 a.m. and return about 7:00 p.m. The cost is $5. Call Ken or Flora at 434-0916 for further information or to make a reservation.
On April 11th we will be going to the Log Cabin in Massachusetts for dinner and the entertainment will be Mike Verselli, an impressionist. Cost $41. NAMES AND RESERVATIONS WILL NOT BE TAKEN UNTIL February 28th. For further information or to make a reservation contact Arnold at 869-3020. Deadline for a ticket is March 27th .
LENTEN SOUP SALE
Bethany Presbyterian Church is again offering soup for sale during the Lenten season. The second soup, Turkey Vegetable, will be available February 29th . One quart of soup costs $3.75. Homemade bread will also be available at $2.25 per loaf. To reserve a quantity of soup, you may call Jean Lamere at 462-9827, fill out a coupon available at the church or drop in on February 29th . Soup will be available for pick up between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

MENANDS SCHOOL KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
If you are a resident of the MenandsUnion Free School District and have a child who will be 5 years old on or before December 1, 2008, please call the Menands School at 465-4561 to register for the upcoming school year. You will be sent a registration packet in the mail.

Spring is right around the corner and it is time to gear up once again for the 2008 Season of the Menands Junior Baseball and Softball League. Registration is underway! Registration is every Saturday during March from 9 a.m. to noon at the MENANDS SCHOOL GYM LOBBY.
Tee Ball boys and girls ages 5-6.
Baseball ages 7-13.
Softball ages 7-14.
We also need volunteers to help with field preparation, concession stand preparation and COACHING!!!
Please join the fun and help us continue the proud tradition of Junior Baseball in our village.
