When there is inclement weather, residents should tune to WGY, WROW or WTRY radio as well as TV channels 6, 10 and 13 for school closings or late openings.  If the Menands School is opening later due to weather, all bus runs will be delayed in Menands.  For example, if the Menands School is opening one hour late, then all buses transporting students outside the district will also be running one hour later.  If the Menands School is closed due to weather, transportation to high schools and private schools will be at the discretion of the Superintendent of Schools.  Also, when school is canceled during the day, after school and night activities at the school are also canceled.  If parents have changed home/work phone numbers or emergency contacts, please contact the Menands School at 465-4561.

The 11th Annual Father-Daughter Valentine’s Dance will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008 from 6 – 9 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church (at the corner of N. SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGING
Given the recent news coverage of the difficulty to get volunteers to man the Salvation Army Kettles during the Christmas Campaign it is with pride that the Menands community stepped up to the plate.
Since the 1980’s, Menands Rotary leads getting volunteers to ring the bell and this year is no exception.  The Save More Liquor Store has been the site for the past dozen years.
This year besides the Rotary members who volunteered you have seen Tom Coates, Ron Miller, Meg Grenier, John Hagmann, Mark Lansing (and family), Tim Lane, Bill Smith, Jim Cazavillian, Mel Horowitz, Peter Mason, Adam Knaust, Judy Blair, Sanjiv Patel, Ken Bauer, Ken Strawbridge, Ben and Dave Unverhau and Christian Brooks.
Thanks to these fine people and to you for your contributions Rotary has raised over a 10 percent increase on last years community record.
                                        Thanks again,
                                        Peter Mason

Items to be included in the next edition of the Menands Activities dated January 25, 2008 WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED  IN  THE VILLAGE OFFICE AFTER 9 A.M. Tuesday, January 22, 2008
