VILLAGE BOARD MEETING
The Village Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2007. All meetings are open to the public and are handicap accessible.
LEAF MACHINE
The Village’s Leaf Machine will be in operation until Friday, November 30, 2007 – weather permitting. Loose leaves that are raked to the side of the road will be picked up by the Leaf Machine. Mulched leaves and grass should be bagged. Branches, limbs, etc. should be cut in 3 ft. lengths. We do NOT accept any dirt in the biodegradable bags. Biodegradable bags are available 2/$1.00 at the Village Office, Monday – Friday 8 – 4 p.m.
NEW RECYCLING GUIDELINES
Effective immediately, glass, plastic and cans do not have to be separated, they can be mixed. Newspapers should be separated from the other items by either their own bin or in a PAPER BAG. TRASH REMINDER – CLEAR BAGS SHOULD BE USED FOR DISPOSAL OF YOUR TRASH.
STORM DRAINS
The DPW asks that you help keep the storm water catch basins near your home free of leaves and debris during the year to prevent back-ups.
THANKSGIVING placeHOLIDAY SCHEDULES
The Village Office, Village Court and D.P.W. will be closed on Thursday, November 22nd for Thanksgiving. There will be no recycling pick up on Thursday, November 22nd . Thursday’s recycling pick up will be on Wednesday, November 21st . Friday’s pick up remains unchanged.
NOVEMBER TRASH SCHEDULE
There will be only one (1) Special Trash Pick Up Day left in November and that is November 28th . Please plan accordingly.

A BIG thank you to all who helped make the Ladies Auxiliary of Menands Fire Co. #1 Election Day Bake Sale a big success. Also a thank you to all the members who baked or made donations.
CHRISTMAS BAZAAR
For that unique hand-crafted gift, luscious baked items, jams, jellies, pickles, salads or yummy soup, come to Bethany Presbyterian Church’s Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, November 17th from 9-3 p.m. at the corner of Menand Road and North Lyons Avenue. We’ll have hand-made knits, jewelry, Christmas items, gifts for dogs and second-hand items at our white elephant sale. Start your morning with a cup of coffee and goodie served from 9:00 - 11 a.m. followed by lunch served until 1 p.m. Hope to see you there.
BROADWAY (ROUTE 32) TRANSPORTATION, ACCESS AND LAND USE IMPROVEMENT STUDY
The Village of Menands has recently initiated the Broadway (Route 32) Transportation, Access and Land Use Improvement Study. The purpose of the study is to further the development of several recommended improvements identified in the Broadway Corridor Master Plan and to continue the momentum toward corridor revitalization. The study will focus on three separate areas 1) Redesign/Improvement of access into the Capital District Farmers Market/True Value Hardware/Menands Road Area; 2) Improved design for Route 378 west exit ramp, land use and traffic
access/management at the Price Chopper Plaza Interchange Area; and 3) Access Analysis for the recreational trails/nature area proposed between Broadway and Interstate 787.
A public meeting will be scheduled to gather information to further develop and establish proposed transportation system improvements that can be implemented in the area. SPECIAL TOUR OF ALBANY RURAL CEMETERY
A special tour, Albany’s Political Graveyard, focuses on the once-powerful players in New York government who have influenced history and are buried in Albany Rural Cemetery. This tour is being offered at 10 a.m. on November 17th.
The tour will meet at the Chapel in Albany Rural (enter from Broadway in Menands). Refreshments will be served prior to the tour. Cost is $25 per person. Reservations are required by calling 518-462-3825.

November event: Meeting on Tues., Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.
MENANDS SENIOR CITIZENS
The annual Christmas Party for Menands Seniors and guests will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at the Menands Firehouse. Cocktails at 4:00 p.m., hors d’oeuvres at 4:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:00 p.m. Menu choices are Prime Rib or Smokehouse Chicken. Cost is $20.00 per person. There will also be a $5. MENANDS FIRE CO. AUXILIARY XMAS PARTY
The Menands Fire Co. #1 Auxiliary Christmas Party will be held December 5th at 6:15 p.m. (PLEASE NOTE DATE CHANGE). A brief meeting will be held before DINNER, which will be served by the firemen. Each member is asked to bring a $5. grab bag gift and 6 Christmas cards with their name and auxiliary name on them. The cards will be sent to the Firemen’s Home in placeCityHudson..The telephone committee will be in contact with each member.

MENANDS SKI CLUB
Come and Ski/snowboard at Jiminy Peak with the Menands Ski Club on 7 TUESDAYS beginning January 8, 2008. 7 nights of skiing/boarding, 6 lessons and bus transportation to/from Menands School for only $140.00 ($210 w/ski rental, $236 w/board rental.) The bus leaves Menands School at 3:30 p.m. and returns at 9:30 p.m. All are welcome; however, children below grade four are to be accompanied by an adult.
