MENANDS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Chief O’Brien wants to remind residents that, now that the summer recess has begun, to secure bicycles and other property and not to leave anything lying around in the yard where it may be accessible.  There have been some non-resident youths wandering through the Village attempting to steal bicycles.  Patrols have been successful in preventing a recent attempt, but residents should be alert for any suspicious activity and report same IMMEDIATELY to the Police Department.

SPOTLIGHT ON MENANDS BUSINESS
Our feature business for this month is Gerome Technologies, Inc.

Gerome Technologies was founded by Mark Smisloff in 1995 and began operations with 900 square feet of space in Schenectady that year.  In 2001, the Company moved to larger quarters in the old Harmony Mills Complex in Cohoes.  In 2004, Gerome Technologies moved to its present location at 57-85 Broadway.

The Company currently utilizes 36,000 square feet of space and is a major provider of electrical innovative repair kits for power generators and electrical equipment.  There are currently 26 full time and five part time employees under the direction of Mark and his senior staff.

The company customer base includes General Electric Power Systems and other major power system manufacturers.  Gerome Technology products are shipped world-wide to the various locations of the parent companies.

The Company is very much influenced by the continued growth of the energy market, which in turn is driven by the need to upgrade and improve existing equipment.  As such, the ability to increase energy production efficiency is essential to the success of the Company. Since this is an international phenomenon, prospects for continued growth of the Company are very promising.  This should result in Gerome Technologies increasing its work force in Menands as it continues to expand to new markets.
