PUBLIC HEARING
The Village Board will hold a public hearing on Monday, April 9, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. to consider the Tentative 2007-2008 Village Budget, at which time comments and suggestions from Village Residents will be received
VILLAGE BOARD MEETING
The Village Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 16, 2007. All meetings are open to the public and are handicapped accessible.
BUILDING PERMITS REQUIRED
Please call the Village Building Inspector at 434-2922 if you are planning any construction projects; pool, and roof or shed installation, etc. Be advised it takes approximately one week from receiving an application to the issuance of a building permit.

TOWN OF COLONIE LANDFILL
Town of Colonie 2007 household hazardous drop-off waste dates are May 2nd (4 p.m. – 7 p.m.) and June 23rd (3 p.m. – 6 p.m.) Information available at Village Hall or call 783-2827.
ATTENTION RESIDENTS
Recently a resident had an emergency at their house, however emergency personnel had a very difficult time finding the house. The house number was not visible from the street. It is extremely important that your house number is clearly visible from the street, both during the day and at night. During an emergency seconds do count, so help out our Police & Emergency personnel to identify your house. Information is available at the Police Station on E911 requirements.
DUMPSTER
The Village DPW will loan a dumpster to Village Residents only for their personal use. No contractor’s debris will be accepted. The Dumpster is available thru October by reservation only. Stop in or call the Village Office @ 434-2922 to schedule the dumpster.
MENANDS SENIOR CITIZENS
At the April 26th meeting of the Menands Senior Citizens Club, Mary Brizzell, Supervisor of the Town of Colonie, will be our guest speaker at 10:45 A.M.
The seniors will be going May 30th to the MacHayden Theatre to see “110 in the Shade” (The Rainmaker). After the show we will be going to Kozel’s Restaurant for dinner. Choices are: Roast Turkey, Lemon Chicken Breast or Broiled Haddock. Salad, dessert, coffee or tea is included. Price $45. Deadline May 15. Bus leaves 12:00 p.m. SHARP. BETHANY JR. HI. TEEN NIGHT
Do you have a child or grandchild in grades 5-8? Then send them on down to Bethany Presbyterian Church Friday, April 20 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for a game night full of fun. MENANDS ST. PATRICK’S CLUB
The Menands St. Patrick’s Club would like to thank everyone who came and marched in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Everyone had a great time.
MENANDS PUBLIC LIBRARY
Story time will be on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Drop in for songs, crafts and fun. Remember if Menands School is closed due to weather, there will be no story time. Call 463-4035 for more information.
The Menands Public Library will host an examination of John Wayne’s films. We will explore the myth every Tuesday until May 22 at 1 pm.

INSTALLATION DINNER
The Menands Fire Company #1, Inc. will hold its Installation Dinner on April 28, 2007 at the Firehouse. Cocktail Hour 6-7 p.m. Dinner served at 7 p.m. All Fire Company and Auxiliary members are welcome. Sign-up sheets are in the Lounge at the Firehouse or contact John Murphy at 449-2222. MENANDS SCH. KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
If you are a resident of the Menands Union Free School District and have a child who will be 5 years old on or before December 1, 2007, please call the Menands School at 465-4561 to register for the upcoming school year. You will be sent a registration packet in the mail.
MENANDS SCHOOL PTA SPAGHETTI DINNER
The Menands School PTA’s annual Spaghetti Dinner will be held on Wednesday, April 25 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Menands School. Cost for adults is $6, seniors $5, children (3-13) $3, and children under 3 are free. Take-out available. Please come support our students and socialize with those neighbors you haven’t seen all winter
QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE MENANDS
UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT
A public hearing on the proposed 2007-2008 Budget for the Menands UFSD and the Menands Public Library will be held at the Menands School on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. Budgets will be available for review on April 30, 2007 at the Menands School Central Office.
Personal Registration will be on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the main lobby of the Menands School. District residents registered with the County Board of Elections and who have voted once in the last four years need not register on May 9, 2007.
The annual meeting of the qualified voters of the Menands UFSD will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. in the Menands School, at which time the polls will be opened to vote by voting machine on the following items: to adopt the annual budget of the Menands UFSD, to elect one Board of Education member to a 5-year term, to adopt the annual budget of the Menands Public Library, and to elect one Library Board of Trustees member to a 5-year term.
Nominating petitions for these positions may be obtained from Patricia M. Miller, District Clerk, at Menands School. Completed petitions are due by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 16, 2007.
Applications for absentee ballots are available between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday from the District Clerk. Completed Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk at least 7 days prior to the vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 15, 2007.
Items to be included in the next edition of the Menands Activities dated April 20, 2007 WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IN THE VILLAGE OFFICE AFTER 9 A.M. Monday, April 16, 2007.
