                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 VILLAGE BOARD MEETING
The Village Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2007.   All meetings are open to the public and are handicapped accessible.

BUILDING PERMITS
Please call the Village Building Inspector at 434-2922 if you are planning any construction, pool, and roof or shed installation, etc.  Be advised it takes approximately one week from receiving an application to the issuance of a building permit.

TOWN OF COLONIE LANDFILL
Town of Colonie 2007 household hazardous drop-off waste dates are April 4 and
May 2.  Information available at Village Hall or call 783-2827

YOUTH DIRECTORS POSITION OPEN
The Village will be taking applications for the Youth Directors position.  If you are interested, please stop by the Village Office to pick up an employment application.  All applications must be received by March 31, 2007.

DOG COMPLAINTS
The Village Office is once again receiving complaints concerning dogs running loose and leaving “deposits” on resident’s lawns.  There is a leash law as well as a “pooper scooper” law in the Village.  Tickets will be issued and fines will be assessed to violators.

MENANDS FIRE COMPANY #1
The April meeting of the Menands Fire Co. #I will be Tuesday, April 3rd.

MENANDS SENIOR CITIZENS
On April 17 we are planning a trip to Chez Josef to see “A Sensational Tribute to Old Blue Eyes” Frank Sinatra.  The meal will be Chicken Francaise. The cost is $42.  See or call Flora at 434-0916 or Pat at 436-8772 for reservations.  Deadline is April 5.   REMINDER: DUES ARE DUE.

BETHANY JR. HI. TEEN  NIGHT
Do you have a child or grandchild in grades 5-8?  Then send them on down to Bethany Presbyterian Church Friday, April 20 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for a game night full of fun.  This is open to all teens who want to come.  Upcoming Teen Night:  May 18.  Any questions?  Please call the church office at 463-8217.   

LENTEN SOUP SALE
Bethany Presbyterian Church is again offering soup for sale during the Lenten season.  The third soup, Corn Chowder, will be available Friday, March 23.  Pick-up will be between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.  One quart of soup costs $3.75.  A loaf of homemade bread will also be available at $1.75 per loaf.  To reserve a quantity of soup, you may call Jean Lamere at 462-9827 or fill out a coupon available at the church or drop in on March 23.

SPOTLIGHT ON MENANDS BUSINESS
Our featured business for March is the L.J. Early Company.  
The L. J. Early Company was founded by its owner, Larry Early, in 1986.  Located at 232 Broadway for the past ten years, the Company is a manufactures’ representative for commercial heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment.  The Company serves public and private sector clients including schools, hospitals and universities in eastern New York and Vermont.  The Early Company specializes in packaged roof top units with energy recovery attributes.
There are presently eight employees in the Company and the premises underwent a substantial upgrade in 2006.  The Company looks forward to a continued presence in the Village of Menands for many years to come.

EASTER EGG HUNT
Hippidy Hoppidy Easter is on its way!!  Come join the Easter bunny for an Easter  egg hunt at the Park on March 31 from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. rain or shine.  There will be yummy snacks!  The Easter egg hunt will begin PROMPTLY at 12:00.  Please remember to bring an Easter basket or bag to collect your Easter Eggs.

MENANDS ST. PATRICK’S CLUB
Parade Date:  If anyone wants to march in the parade on March 24, be at the firehouse at 12:30 p.m.
Meeting Date: The  wrap-up  meeting   will  be  Sunday, April 1 at 12:00 noon.                                                       
The Menands St. Patrick’s Club would like to thank everyone that came to the Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner.  It was a huge success.

MENANDS JUNIOR BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL
Play Ball!!!!  It is that time of year again!  Registration for the 2007 Season of the Menands Junior Baseball and Softball League is underway!!  Registrations will be held SATURDAY mornings during MARCH at the Menands School Gym Lobby 9:00 a.m. to Noon.  REGISTER EARLY!!!  Registrations received after APRIL 1 will be subject to a $5.00 late fee.  Opening Day is scheduled for April 28!!!!  We need volunteers for Coaching, Field Prep, and other fun jobs!!!!   Please contact Paul DeDominicis @426-1202 or Chuck Price @361-1300.      

MENANDS SCHOOL PTA SPAGHETTI DINNER
The Menands School PTA’s annual Spaghetti Dinner will be held on Wednesday, April 25 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Menands School.  Cost for adults is $6, seniors $5, children (3-13) $3, and children under 3 are free.  Take-out available.  Please come support our students and socialize with those neighbors you haven’t seen all winter!                                                                                                
MENANDS PUBLIC LIBRARY
Story time will be on Tuesdays at 10 a.m.  Drop in for songs, crafts and fun.  Remember if Menands School is closed due to weather, there will be no story time.  Call 463-4035 for more information.
The Menands Public Library will host an examination of  John Wayne’s films.  We will explore the myth every Tuesday until May 22 at 1 pm.

MENANDS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL REUNION

MENANDS SCH. KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
If you are a resident of the Menands Union Free School District and have a child who will be 5 years old on or before December 1, 2007, please call the Menands School at 465-4561 to register for the upcoming school year.  You will be sent a registration packet in the mail.

QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE MENANDS
UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT
A public hearing on the proposed 2007-2008 Budget for the Menands UFSD and the Menands Public Library will be held at the Menands School on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 6:30 p.m.  Budgets will be available for review on April 30, 2007 at the Menands School Central Office.
Personal Registration will be on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the main lobby of the Menands School.  District residents registered with the County Board of Elections and who have voted once in the last four years need not register on May 9, 2007.
The annual meeting of the qualified voters of the Menands UFSD will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. in the Menands School, at which time the polls will be opened to vote by voting machine on the following items: to adopt the annual budget of the Menands UFSD, to elect one Board of Education member to a 5-year term, to adopt the annual budget of the Menands Public Library, and to elect one Library Board of Trustees member to a 5-year term.  Nominating petitions for these positions may be obtained from Patricia M. Miller, District Clerk, at Menands School.  Completed petitions are due by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 16, 2007.   Applications for absentee ballots are available between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday from the District Clerk. Completed Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk at least 7 days prior to the vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter.  Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 15, 2007.
