VILLAGE BOARD MEETING
The Village Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2006. All meetings are open to the public and handicapped accessible.
NOTICE
Construction has started on North Lyons Avenue and Menand Road. Please proceed with caution when traveling in this area. Residents in the area may experience temporary disruption to water service as we repair/replace water valves in the area.
THERE WILL BE NO TRASH PICK UP ON
MONDAY SEPTEMBER 4TH
Monday’s pick up will be Tuesday, September 5th and Tuesday’s pick up will be on Wednesday, September 6th. Recycling days will remain the same. There will be NO SPECIAL PICK UP ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH.
MENANDS FIRE CO. NEWS
September meeting will be Tuesday, September 5th at 7:00 p.m. The Menands Fire Co. is selling raffle tickets for a snow blower. The drawing will be October 31st. Tickets are $5 each or 4 for $15. Tickets can be purchased from any fireman.
MENANDS FIRE CO AUXILIARY NEWS
The quarterly meeting of the Menands Fire Co #1 Auxiliary will be held Wednesday, September 13th at 7:00 p.m. at the firehouse.

MENANDS SENIOR CITIZENS
The Menands Senior Club is planning a “Mystery” trip on Friday, September 22, 2006. Cost - $40.00. For reservations, please call Arnold at 869-3020. The Club still meets every Thursday at Bethany Hall from 10 to 2. Bring your lunch. We furnish desserts.
HAZARDOUS WASTE DROP OFF DAYS
You must pre-register by calling 1-800-494-2273 (Mon. – Fri. 9-5 p.m.). Drop off events will be held at the Town of Colonie Landfill Site, 1319 New Loudon Rd. (Route 9), Cohoes on Sept. 6th & Oct. 4th 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Residents of the Town of Colonie will be admitted by appointment only. Proof of residency will be required at the time of disposal. A list of acceptable materials is available in the Village Office.
JR. HIGH TEEN NIGHT
Do you have a child or grandchild entering grades 5 – 8? Then send them down to Bethany Presbyterian Church on Friday, August 25th for a game night full of fun. This is open to all 5th thru 8th graders who want to come. Any questions? Please call the church office at 463-8217.

MENANDS ROTARY
The Menands Rotary Club is sponsoring its fall Chicken Barbecue (prepared by Giffy’s Bar – B – Q ) on Thursday September 14th 4 to 7 p.m. at Ganser Smith Park – Eat in or Take Out - Only $8.95 for a full dinner of Chicken, baked potato, cole slaw, drink, roll & butter, and a cookie. To be sure there is a meal ready for you we suggest that you obtain advance tickets by sending a check (payable to Rotary Club of Menands) to Ron Miller, 7 Sage Hill Lane, Menands NY 12204 – For information please contact Ron at 463-8144. MENANDS ST. PATRICK’S CLUB
The Menands St. Patrick’s Club would like to thank all the Village residents who supported our fund raising efforts at the Summer Concerts and the Village picnic. We raised a total of $886 for the Club. The winner of the raffle drawing for the Irish gift basket was Stephanie Dolan of Clifford Road. Again, thank you for making our fund raising effort a hugh success.

MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 7th annual John Weidman Golf Tournament for Muscular Dystrophy will be held on Friday, September 15th at the Town of Colonie Golf Course. Tee times are from 7 AM to 9 AM. Lunch and dinner along with raffles and prizes to follow at the Ganser Smith Park. Cost is $80. Per person; reserve your foursome now by sending a payment to:

CLASS OF 2006: Graduation Pictures have arrived. 2006 graduates who have ordered pictures may pick them up in the main office or school between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Again, Congratulations.
ALBANY RURAL CEMETERY
The Albany Rural Cemetery (Colonie) will be hosting their 2nd Annual Civil War Day on Saturday, September 23rd from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Many events are planned including horse drawn tours of the cemetery, re-enactors, the firing of an actual civil war cannon and President Lincoln will be there too! Food vendors and rest room facilities on site. This is a great time for kids and adults to enjoy some of our local history relating to the Civil War era.

Parks & Beautification Committees are planning a Fall Fund Raiser Garage Sale on Saturday, September 30th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For a nominal fee of $15.00, it will include a map of all participants and also advertising. Funds raised will be applied towards Parks and Beautification improvements in the Village. Please call Lynda Long at 436-1300 for information and sign-up.
