VILLAGE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS & SNOW REMOVAL
To provide you with the best service possible, the Department of Public Works (DPW) would like to remind everyone that your cooperation is needed during the winter months for proper plowing, salting and snow removal.  If you have a driveway or an off street parking space, please use it during the winter months and especially during a snow or ice storm as vehicles parked on the street hinder plowing operations.  Additionally, anything that you might have in the Village’s right-of-way, such as a basketball hoop should be moved and stored for the winter.  The Village will not be responsible for damage to any items left in the Village’s right-of-way.  Also if your vehicle is parked in the street and it prevents the snowplow from passing, the vehicle WILL be towed at the owner’s expense.

HOLIDAY RECYCLING GUIDE
Christmas Trees & Wreaths are recyclable, remove decorations, tinsel, lights, etc. and place at curbside and the Village DPW will pick them up, there will be no set day for pick up.

ATTENTION RESIDENTS
Is your house number clearly visible from the street, both during the day and at night.  During an emergency seconds do count, so help out our Police & Emergency personnel to identify your house.  Information is available at the Police Station on E911 requirements.

MENANDS ROTARY APPRECIATES BOOK DONATIONS FOR MISSISSIPPI LIBRARY
The Rotary Club of Menands wants to thank everyone who helped provide books for the Katrina devastated library in Long Beach, Mississippi.  This small city of 17,000 is in the process of rebuilding after the wrath of the hurricane which wiped out much of the city.  We will continue collecting materials to help rebuild their library collection.  This is a long term project and donations will be welcome throughout 2006.  Menands area residents and friends can join in this effort by donating any good condition books (hardcover or paperback) or magazines.  If you have any questions contact Art Shelmandine at 432-8009 or   Mel Horowitz  49-8817.
