ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
A Public hearing will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. in the Village Municipal Building for the purpose of considering the following application for a variance:
Mark Rizzo, Action Sign Company, is requesting a variance to place a second wall sign on the property of Satch Sales, 63 Broadway. According to the Village of Menands Zoning Law, Chapter 138, Signs and Billboards allows only one wall sign per tenant and it must be placed on the storefront of the tenant identified by that sign (Table of Permitted Signs, Part 2).
Such public hearings are open to the public and are accessible to the handicapped. All are encouraged to attend or to present comments in writing.
VILLAGE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS & SNOW REMOVAL
To provide you with the best service possible, the Department of Public Works (DPW) would like to remind everyone that your cooperation is needed during the winter months for proper plowing, salting and snow removal. If you have a driveway or an off street parking space, please use it during the winter months and especially during a snow or ice storm as vehicles parked on the street hinder plowing operations. Additionally, anything that you might have in the Village’s right-of-way, such as a basketball hoop should be moved and stored for the winter. The Village will not be responsible for damage to any items left in the Village\s right-of-way. Also if your vehicle is parked in the street and it prevents the snowplow from passing, the vehicle WILL be towed at the owner’s
expense.

If you wish to support a library, please, consider your home library first.
MENANDS ROTARY PROJECT TO AID
KATRINA DEVASTATED MISSISSIPPI LIBRARY
The Rotary Club of Menands, in an effort to provide long term help in the wake of the damage Hurricane Katrina visited upon the Gulf Coast, is collecting books to help rebuild the library collection of the Long Beach, Mississippi Library. Long Beach is a city of just over 17,000 located along the Gulf about 75 miles east of New Orleans. Much of the city is in ruins. The structural engineer’s study finds the building might not be condemned and the Director of the Library has said “I can count on my fingers the library materials that are still usable.” Members of the community who wish to help with this effort may bring good condition books and periodicals to the designated area at the Menands Library or the Menands Regional Market Administrative office. If you have any
questions contact Art Shelmandine at 432-8009 or Mel Horowitz at 449-8817.
