VILLAGE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS & SNOW REMOVAL
To provide you with the best service possible, the Department of Public Works (DPW) would like to remind everyone that your cooperation is needed during the winter months for proper plowing, salting and snow removal. If you have a driveway or an off street parking space, please use it during the winter months and especially during a snow or ice storm as vehicles parked on the street hinder plowing operations. Additionally, anything that you might have in the Village’s right-of-way, such as a basketball hoop should be moved and stored for the winter. The Village will not be responsible for damage to any items left in the Village’s right-of-way. Also if your vehicle is parked in the street and it prevents the snowplow from passing, the vehicle WILL be towed at the owner’s
expense.

NOTICE FROM THE POSTMASTER
Recently a young child was run over and killed while playing in a pile of leaves. The leaves were piled up by the driveway and the child was not seen by the driver. We are requesting the safety of your children who might play in the leaves as children will do, not to pile the leaves up in front of or adjacent to the mailbox. This makes an unsafe condition for your letter carrier. They can not tell if a child is hiding in the pile of leaves. For the sake of safety we are instructing our carriers to treat leaf piles as solid objects and not to drive thru them. If leaves are piled up in front of the mailbox the carrier will be required to avoid the pile. If this causes the carrier not to be able to reach the box, the carrier will curtail the mail delivery of that day, or for as long
as the leaves remained piled up in front of the box. To prevent disruption in our customers mail, and our desire to keep our customers safe we request that our customers refrain from piling leaves or anything around the mailboxes.
Thank you for your cooperation. Postmaster, Albany, NY
