VILLAGE BOARD MEETING
The next regular Village Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, December 20, 2004. All meetings are open to the public and handicapped accessible.
SANTA IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!
On Saturday, December 18th, starting at 10 a.m., SANTA and the Menands Fire Co. will be traveling Village streets spreading holiday cheer and treats. Be on the look-out, kids!
RETIREMENT PARTY
FOR CAROL BLAAUBOER
A retirement party for long time Village Employee Carol Blaauboer will be held on Friday, January 28th at the Menands Firehouse. Cocktail hour begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and a D.J. for your listening and dancing pleasure. $25.00 per person (includes dinner, music and gift). For reservations, call the Village Office at 434-2922.
DISCOUNT MOVIE TICKETS
The Menands School PTA is selling discount movie tickets at $6.50 each (a savings of up to $2.50 per ticket) - accepted at all Regal (formerly Hoyts). To order call Dianne MacFarland at 253-4925 anytime or Kerry Franklin at 462-3712 (evenings).
MENANDS SENIOR CITIZENS
On Sunday, January 23rd, the Menands Senior Citizens Club will attend the play “Man of LaMancha” at the TSI in Troy followed by dinner at the Red Front Restaurant. For reservations, please call Pat at 436-8772. Then, on Thursday, February 10, 2005, the Club will hold an indooor pizza party at noon. Entertainment will be provided. For further information, call Marion Kirby at 436-8207. In March, we will travel to the Log Cabin in Holyoke, MA to attend “Finnegan’s Wake”. Additional information will be in future issues of Menands Activities.
LEAVES MUST BE BAGGED FOR PICK UP
Biodegradable bags are available (4/$1) at the Village Office (8-4, M-F), or you may purchase them elsewhere.
SNOW EMERGENCIES
In the event a Snow Emergency is declared in the Village of Menands, motorists are prohibited from parking their vehicles on Village streets for 24 hours. Violators will be towed. If a heavy snowfall is predicted, we suggest you park your vehicles in your driveway or find other off-street parking. This will greatly assist our DPW in plowing our streets more efficiently.

As always, a special thanks to Santa & Mrs. Claus for taking time from this busy season to visit Menands. Please watch for a posting closer to the Easter party. BENEFIT SPAGHETTI DINNER
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17TH
The Menands Fire Co. is hosting a Spaghetti and Meatball dinner on Friday, December 17th. Proceeds will benefit fellow firefighter Harry “Buzzy” Harbour who is recuperating at Albany Medical Center. The dinner, including a garden salad, Italian bread, beverage and dessert, will be held at the Menands Firehouse from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Adults $6.00; Children $3.00. Please come out to support this worthy in this endeavor.
MENANDS FIRE CO. LADIES AUXILIARY
Members of the Auxiliary are asked to bake cookies, brownies or other desserts for the Spagetti Dinner benefit on Friday, December 17th. Please drop desserts off as early as possible on day of dinner.
YOUTH COMMITTEE OPEN GYM PROGRAM
High School: December 16; January 6, 13, 20 and 27th; February 3, 10, & 17th; March 3, 10, 17 &31st.
Middle School: December 18*; January 8*, February 5*, March 5, 12 & 19th.
The high school session (grades 9+) will be from 8 – 10 p.m. on Thursdays. Middle School (Grades 4-8) will be on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. – noon when there are no basketball games scheduled. *On days when there are afternoon games, we will end at 11:45 a.m.
