The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Menands, held on January 17, 2006 was called to order by Mayor John Bishop at 7:00 P.M.

Jennifer Carlson, Acting Village Attorney
ABSENT: John F. Hagmann, Trustee
Stephen Rehfuss, Village Attorney
Also attending: Residents Gert Kurtz, Bill Garvey, Al Wright, Paul Cooney, Jean Parker, Jim Long, Deb DiBiase, Shelagh Nugent, Lyle Darmetko, Redmond Griffin, Marc Bianca.
Mayor led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Resident Jim Long reported on the Park Committee and Beautification Committee meetings. He also inquired as to the Menand Road Project a discussion followed with residents Lyle Darmetko, Shelagh Nugent, Debbie DiBaise, Jean Parker all participating in the discussion, the Mayor advised everyone that a public meeting would be held when the preliminary plans are finished probably the end of February or beginning of March.
Resident Bill Garvey presented his ideas for converting 315 Broadway; the Board advised Mr. Garvey that he should present his plan to the owner, as the Board has no jurisdiction.
Mr. Red Griffin representing the owners of 434 Broadway discussed the proposed use of the building and wanted to know the next step in the process, a discussion followed.
A motion was made by Trustee Lane, seconded by Trustee Grenier, to accept the minutes of the January 3, 2006 meeting.

A motion was made by Trustee Lane, seconded by Trustee Grenier, to approve payment for the following:
WARRANT # 16
GENERAL totaling $68,581.22
WATER totaling 5,772.12
TOTAL $74,353.34
PAYROLL #16 totaling $59,024.51

Trustee Miller, offered, seconded by Trustee Lane, to pay 2006 – 2007 annual dues to the American Water Works Association for Tim Boyd in the amount of $143.00 and the annual dues for Earl Jones and Al Wright for the New York State Fire Marshals & Investigators Association in the amount of $25.00 each.

The Mayor advised the Board that he would be attending a County Wide Hazmat Mitigation meeting on Friday, January 20, 2006.
The Board gave their liaison reports:
Mayor Bishop - Building Dept., Administration & Police
Trustee Lane - DPW Dept.
Trustee Miller - Seniors & Parks
Trustee Grenier – Fire & Youth
Trustee Lane advised the Clerk that there are several of the lights on the bridge out and could the DPW replace them.
Trustee Miller discussed the replacement of the bleachers at Ganser Smith Park and the recommendations of the Parks Committee. He will get the information to the Clerk so he will
have three proposals. Also the Clerk is getting prices to remove the concrete of the old bleachers.
Mayor Bishop commented on the Annual Report from the Fire Company that Trustee Grenier reported during the Liaison Reports. Mayor Bishop wanted it noted that while the whole Fire Company is to be commended for their efforts and the time they donate to the Village Residents providing them with this fine service, several members were exemplary in their service and the Mayor and the Board wished to publicly thank the following firemen:

Trustee Grenier stated she would send a letter to the Fire Department from the Board. The Clerk will provide her with a copy of the minutes.
Trustee Miller also noted that the Beautification Committee and Parks Committee combined have a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, February 8th, 2006 at the Village Hall.
A motion was made by Trustee Lane, seconded by Trustee Grenier to adjourn.
