The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Menands, held on September 6, 2005 was called to order by Mayor John Bishop at 7:00 P.M.

Also attending: Residents Diane Brunelle, Gert Kutz, Judy Clancy, Dianne MacFarland, Jeanne Rutherford, Jim Long, Brian Rozmierski.
The Mayor led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Bishop requested a moment of silence prior to meeting for the victims of Hurricane Katerina.
Resident Judy Clancy led a discussion concerning a problem on Clifford Road with feral cats. The Clerk explained that he will be setting up a meeting with a group that is currently trying to capture the cats. It is a capture, neuter and release program, and the volunteers are working with the Humane Society.
Resident Jim Long discussed the new stripping on Broadway and thinks it is a step in the right direction. Diane Burnell mentioned some areas of concern; John Stangle will contact DOT to address these issues.
Trustee Grenier wanted to thank the Village employees that wear many hats, for the outstanding job they do.
A motion was made by Trustee Lane, seconded by Trustee Grenier, to accept the minutes of the August 15, 2005 meeting.

A motion was made by Trustee Lane, seconded by Trustee Grenier, to approve payment for the following:

GRAND TOTAL $119,228.93

The Clerk reported that the 23rd Mohawk-Hudson River Marathon will be run on Sunday, October 9th starting at 8:30 AM in Schenectady and finishing near the Albany Riverfront Park. The marathon will be run along the Bike Trail.
The Clerk led a discussion concerning the need for lighting for Polk Switzer Park and also at the Village Garage after a discussion the Clerk will resolicit bids for the work at both places and report back to the Board.
Trustee Miller led a discussion concerning the Quality Communities Grant and a discussion concerning the plaques for the benches in the park.
The clerk discussed three (3) proposals from the Fire Company concerning the resurfacing of the truck floor. After a discussion the Clerk was asked to have the Fire Chief meet with the Mayor to review the project.
The Clerk advised the Board that the DPW would be shutting down the water main from Troy on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 as a precautionary measure while some maintenance work was being done to repair a coupling for the chlorine feed.
