The Public Hearing of a Local Law amending Chapter 82 of the Village of Menands Municipal Code Concerning Garbage, Rubbish and Recycling Collection was held on July 5, 2005 and called to order by Mayor John W. Bishop, Jr. at 7:00 P.M.

The Mayor led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mayor stated that despite rumors this proposed law does not include charging for trash pick-up. The Mayor briefly explained the impetus for the proposed law and asked if there were any comments or questions.
Several residents voiced concerns that the proposal was excessive and didn’t see the need for it. Some thought the Village should focus on the problem and that this law may create more problems than exist.
Several residents feel something is needed and were in favor of the proposed law.
After a lengthy discussion the Mayor thanked everyone for their comments, and stated the Board review the suggestions and comments before any vote on the proposed local law.
The public hearing was closed at 8:21 P.M.
