The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Menands, held on January 22nd, 2008 was called to order by Mayor Thomas G. Coates at 7:00 P.M.

Mayor led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Peter Mason read a letter (attached) from the Salvation Army to the Menands Rotary Club thanking them for their support with the Annual Bell Ringing Project. Peter thanked the Board for their participation again this year. The Rotary raised a record of over $1,200.00.
Resident John Stangle requested the Board proceed carefully with the infrastructure projects in light of the report on the estimated lost water presented last meeting. The Board may want to rethink some of the projects.
Mr. Al Aldi and Mr. Orville Abrahams representing the Capital District YMCA briefed the Board on their program of holding a relationship with the Menands Community especially in light of the brand new facilities at the North Albany YMCA. They also encouraged everyone to attend the Menands Family Fun Night at the YMCA 616 North Pearl Street on Saturday, February 2nd from 6:30 P.M. till 8:00 P.M.
A motion was made by Trustee Lansing seconded by Trustee Grenier to accept the minutes of the January 7th, 2008 meeting.

Trustee Miller discussed the newly formed Planning and Economic Development Work Group and the Volunteer Members.

Trustee Miller stated the kickoff meeting would be held on Monday, January 28th at 7:00 P.M. at his home and that they are looking for other places to hold their meetings.
The Clerk advised the Board that the roof at the main pump station is leaking and that it is probably the original roof from the 1950’s. Therefore, he is getting several proposals for replacing the roof, and will have something for the next meeting. He also advised the Board that the latest check for sales tax was approximately $12,000.00 over last year and as of now the total received so far this fiscal year is about $5,000.00 over last years.
The Clerk advised the Board of the Town of Colonie Community Development Block Grant & Home Program meeting dates and that the estimated funding for the Town this year is $400,000.00.
Mayor Coates advised everyone he had received a letter from Mayor Manning of Watervliet inviting everyone to the National Prayer Breakfast at the Watervliet Arsenal on February 26th at 7:00 P.M. Also that he and Trustee Lane sent a letter to NYSDOT requesting a meeting to discuss seven (7) issues relating to the state highways in the Village. He asked the Clerk to provide copies to the Board Members.
The Clerk reminded everyone of the Mohawk Hudson Village Officials Meeting January 27th in Ravena and the NYCOM Legislative Conference on February 24th – 26th.
A motion was made by Trustee Lansing seconded by Trustee Grenier to adjourn.
